Christian Aid

Christian Aid is one of the major UK charities responding to emergencies and supporting development initiatives of poor communities in Third World countries. Last year, Christian Aid allocated a quarter of its £39,545,000 income to emergency relief and rehabilitation in such countries as Bangladesh, Eastern Zaire (now Democratic Republic of Congo), Rwanda, Burundi, Sudan, Bosnia and Sierra Leone. Christian Aid channels its funds through local partner organisations to a wide variety of emergencies, rehabilitation and development projects initiated, in the main, by local communities. On the home front, Christian Aid campaigns in the interest of the poor for the policy changes from government and big business.

The Children's Society

Children and young people are shaped by the communities they live in, and by the people who surround them. Their prospects can become bleak when these influences let them down. The Children's Society concentrates its resources on tackling the root causes of the problems these children and young people face. There are five areas where the Society's work is making a difference. These are its national programmes: Safe on the Streets; Right to Education; Youth Justice; Children in Communities; Feeding Matters.

The Shaftsbury Society
Merged with another charity in 2007 and was renamed Grooms-Shaftesbury. Both these charities share a passion for creating opportunities for people affected by disability and from marginalized communities. Offering choice and independence to disabled people through a wide range of services across England and Wales. These include residential care and support for people with complex disabilities, wheelchair accessible housing, affordable and accessible holidays, campaigning, training and social inclusion, respite care, disability specialist nursing, brain injury rehabilitation and overseas work. However as from the end of April 2008 the charity will be known as "Livability".
As part of our charity giving in North Baddesley we have sent money to Talbot Manor in Bournemouth a home for adults with physical disabilities.
