Silver Surfers is a name used for those who are over 50 and would like to learn how to use the internet aswell as other computer skills.
In September 2009 a small group of people met at All Saints Church on a Wednesday morning. At that time those attending had to bring their own lap tops with them. Since then the group has been given two grants which has enabled them to purchase some lap tops of their own as well as other equipment. Lap tops are loaned out to those who to not have one of their own, but are thinking of purchasing one - note: no lap tops are stored on the premises.
Due to so many people wanting to join the group in March 2011 an afternoon session was opened which has also proved successful.
Being able to use the internet can enable people to get in touch with friends and family abroad, research family history or find out new and interesting facts and may be even learn to shop on line.
If you would like to join then please telephone the Parish Office.
